I have the same experience printerr all my hp printers. All works perfect now. I have the deskjet Then never power it off, this scanner failure thing always happened to mine after it was powered down.

I think this is where the problem is. Please inform me, if anybody known about the sensor procedure to stop the motor rotator at the scan bulb. It seems odd to me that a new cartridge would solve the problem, but I really have no idea what went wrong I suspect this is caused by the printer not always being on while the computer is on.

This is turned on and off prinfer the properties box. The software still works perfectly and the quality of scans and prints are still as good as new.
