How far back do you want to go with linux? For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration.

I went out and got a cheapo gigabit NIC to replace it, hoping it would be a simple matter of Plug and Pray to install it - it wasn't. I've used the linksys in RedHat, Mandrake and Slackware with no problem.
